George Neville-Neil and Bryan Lunduke discuss BSD and Linux
I just watched a video where our good George Neville-Neil spends a bit over an hour trying to convince Bryan Lunduke to use FreeBSD instead of Linux. Well, that's at least how the video is pitched ; it's actually pretty different from that, and much more interesting. We get a good debate on licensing and the shortcomings of both licences (BSD and GPL), some insights into how George actually uses FreeBSD (which, I believe, explains a lot about why FreeBSD is developed the way it is; but I leave that to a longer post I'll write Real Soon NowTM) and some discussion on the importance of marketing in free software.
